Residents of Mwanjati area in Tharaka Nithi County were left in shock after a one-day-old baby girl was discovered abandoned in a bush with the placenta still attached.

Baby Found After Cries Were Heard

According to eyewitnesses, the baby was discovered after a local resident heard persistent cries coming from a nearby bush while carrying out farm work. 

The villager followed the sound and found the newborn lying helplessly on the ground before alerting other residents.

Swift Rescue Saves Infant’s Life

Members of the public acted quickly and contacted local authorities through emergency channels. 

Rescue teams arrived promptly and rushed the baby to a nearby health facility for urgent medical attention. Medical officers confirmed that the infant was alive and in stable condition.

Police Launch Search for Baby’s Mother

Authorities have launched investigations to trace the baby’s mother, warning that she may also be in serious medical danger after giving birth without professional care. 

Officials appealed to the public to share any information that could help locate her.
